Console E-box

I’m adding a 2nd GPS head unit to my console, and it’s prompting me to build an electronics/storage box to my console. The console is currently flat and the Ray C80 is in a Navpod on it. I’m going to remove the NavPod and install a box, but I’m not sure if I should use starboard or build it out of plywood and have it fiberglassed and gel-coated.
I’m leaning towards building the box myself and having someone else fiberglass and gel-coat it. Another option is to just have someone else build the whole thing for me. Do any of you have any recommendations for someone that can do this for me without breaking the bank?

they always told me that if i were going to spend basically the same anount doing it myself; then have the person that does it for a living do the job. just saying. i have been there. good luck on the project.

I agree with coolbreeze.

What will your 2nd GPS unit be?

No one knows if YOU are THE village IDIOT or not until YOU open your mouth and speak!!!

I’m leaning that way also, but I still need recommendations. If anybody knows of a reputable person for the job that won’t break the bank account, please let me know.
My 2nd unit is gonna be an A65.

Bar Mar in North Charleston has a few boxes.

That’s a cool looking console! If you had a choice, would you keep that grab bar in the middle of your t-top?

Have you already bought the A65? The reason I ask is that I have one. I like it a lot and have no complaints with the unit except for the fact that I can’t tie in the Serius weather receiver. It’s not compatible with it. The A50 or the A70 is compatible. Just something to think about!
