It is an '83 motor and recently finally got it started, on the water and in gear without it stalling. Got the compression from 0-10psi up to 80 + - 3 on all 6. Now, I am in the water, get it in gear and with the throttle held wide open, the engine sputters so bad I may be doing about 10 knots. I have gone through and thoroughly cleaned the carbs but does this sound like carbs need rebuild? It does to me. Any input will be greatly appreciated

timing sounds close on target or your power packs are starting to go out.

Power packs…good thought. I appreciate it!! I will double check if I am getting a spark on all 6. Any other ideas?

Got a bad coil on Cyl #1. I hope that running with a bad coil didnt burn up the power pack. Will get a coil and hope that is the solution! Ok so when you get a coil, do you just splice the wire that comes from the power pack? Was going to remove the coile today but just unbolted it and didnt want to cut any wires yet! Thank you for any input
