I have a set of brand new control cables but they are way too long. Is there a reason I can’t make a large coil under the deck with the spare footage?
19 ft sea pro bay boat & cables are 15 ft.
Thanks

Reel ; would probably work but my experience with push/pull control
cables are, they work better, last longer, operate much easier when
they are installed with few bends and only as long as needed !!!

When you see “Old Glory” waving in the breeze, know that it is the dying breaths of our fallen hero’s that makes it wave.

they will work, but not as well as if they were the proper length.

IF I RESPOND IN ALL CAPS, ITS NOT ON PURPOSE, AND I AM NOT YELLING
Any way you can return them:question:
Well they came with a new-to-me motor so I can’t return them. Thinking about putting them in and trying it for a bit. Shouldn’t be too hard to change later, I hope.
I’ve used longer cables for years with no problem! Just coil up and clamp down with zip ties to keep out of the way, Iv’e got 3 coils under my console!
Longer cables with more bends = more friction… on the other hand, free cables are the best cables.
Wouldn’t it be nice if these cables were made with oilers or a grease fitting? I fight this type of cable a good deal on heavy equipment and farm stuff. Hummm… (where is the switch for that light bulb to come on over my head…)
If you have cable steering in your boat, BUY ONE OF THESE ! ! !
