I read an artilce that waders are actully safer than you think, but I am still not sure if I want to try that route… I am going to try waterproof socks and Goretex pants… The wet suit thing seems like it would work but no one wants to see me in a wet suit

So much water, So little time
PLEASE…for every one’s sanity, don’t even think about NikonJ in a wet suit. Just a freak show waiting to happen!
If you get a good set up, let me know.

Jimmy Buffet can have Margaritaville, I’m going to Redfishville!
Checkout the lotus designs stuff from Patagucci.
He took the bait like a jugbelly redfish on an olive and white clouser.
I have the Lotus Design top and pants which are very light weight and comfortable.
Here is what I usually wear on cold days on a sit on top:
Polypro Mid weight Long underwear top and bottom (Capilene)
Some sort of quick dry nylon pants covered up with
Imersion Research Paddling Pants (Waterproof and breathable with neoprene waist and ankles)
Some sort of fleece jacket depending on the temperature
Imersion Research Paddling Jacket if it gets nasty
For feet, I wear my same summer sandals, just add a neoprene sock on the inside.
If the water temp and the air do not add up to 100 degrees, I will put fleece pants and a spare top in a dry bag, just incase I take an unexpected swim in the cold stuff!

GO NOLES!!! At least we are not Notre Dame!!!
i just wear normal winter clothes and try not to get wet. it has worked pretty well the past 5 years. i got my kayak for at christmas and went fishing every day for the whole month. and it was actually cold that year too.
im a big fan of silks. warm and eases movements. everything else slides on easier too. i have a shorty wet suit that works for me. the more bare skin the better for me as it dries out the fastest. course there are limits there. neoprene socks are awesome. alpaca sweaters with plenty of moth holes so you can tell wind direction. a good thick beard and a hat. the older i get the tougher it is with the hands. i hate gloves but sometimes i have to do it. just avoid cotton if chill is a problem.
see ya out there.
