Got off work a little early and headed to the water for some R&R.
Got the minnow trap stuck in a colvert when the tide shifted. I wasnt able to pull it back out so I had to let it go. By the time I made it to the other side of the road, the trap was rolling out into the lake. So I did what any rational guy would do. Grapped the castnet and started the methodical process of finding it. First cast, no minnow trap but did come up with a health sized Sheephead. So much for a new net. Finally gave up, was walking away and saw about 2ft of the rope wrapped up on some rocks. Got the trap and all it’s contents back. Full of mudminnows. I also found a school of small mullet, all under 3inches. Got a net full of those and headed to the river.

Spent 2 hours casting mullet on a carolina rig under some structure.
I was there 5 minutes and another guy pulled in an overslot red on cut mullet. I couldn’t tie my rigs up fast enough.
Ended the day with this overslot red

2 Good sized trout and a first to me, 24" ladyfish.

I also got to watch the DNR try to catch a few gators people have been feeding. All in all a great day fishing and the best way to forget a crappy day at work. I can’t wait to do it again.
