Got out at Remley’s Point at about 8:30. Tried cast netting some creek mouths in the area for bait but no luck. Good thing I always have the frozen stuff as a back up. Headed up the Cooper to fish a dock that I have had luck at previously. All we ended up catching were about a donzen pinfish and northern pufferfish. Moved down to the harbor near Castle Pinckney. Current and wave were pretty rough and we couldn’t get the anchor to hold so we drifted for a bit. Incoming weather forced us to return to the ramp around 12:30. We almost made it to the ramp when the motor cut off on us. Got it started but couldn’t get it shifted into gear. Drifted under the closest dock when the storm hit. Eventually got the motor in gear as the storm was letting up. Figures. Not many fish but good to finally get the boat on the water minus the storm and boat problems ha.
Anyone got any tips for catching some bait? What to look for, how deep, how far up creeks? Thanks for your help.
Did you mean wappoo cut not remleys pt? For bait go up larger creeks, ellis creek, shem, ICW ect and look for tiny tidal creeks coming out of those, throw your net near the bank on a mud bank when the waters lower shrimp band mullet, cruise the creeks lookin for mullet on the surface…
Also I would rather use artificials than frozen bait, unless frozen shrimp.

No we put in at Remleys Pt off of 5th Ave over in Mount Pleasant. I up in Hanahan but was meeting a buddy over in Mt Pleasant. We had some frozen shrimp and squid. Everything bit on the frozen shrimp. I’ll check out some of those other creeks. Thanks.
Sorry I just realized I wrote Stono River. I meant the Cooper. Ill change that. Thanks.
The creeks are full of bait right now. Make sure you go at low tide while the water is out of the grass. The shrimp are really thick. They hang around near the bank in front of those little gutter ditch-like creeks trying to hide and wait until the tide floods. Also look for menhaden popping the surface. I saw about an acre of them up the Wando last Sunday about 2 miles above the 526 bridge. Mullet are all over too. They tend to be a little deeper and farther off the bank than the shrimp. I find them in the shallows on either side of creek mouths too. Good Luck !
