Coordinates for the Grillage

Can anyone PM me the coordinates for the Grillage? Picking up a new to me Sea Hunt Triton on Sat and want to spend a little time fishing. I know the general area but not the specific location. Thanks so much!!!

If I am thinking correctly the GpS coordinates are located on Top Spot maps, they can be bought at most local tackle shops. Sorry that was the best I could come up with I have never fished the Grillage.

experience noun \ik-#712;spir–#601;n(t)s

  1. the fact or state of having been affected by or gained knowledge through direct observation or participation

  2. that thing you get just moments after you needed it.

What’s the grillage?

Go to the jetties on a Saturday. Look to your left at all the boats anchored, and you’re there.

Thanks!!!

I was typing my PM while Jimmy was sending his. I sent you some directions too. Enjoy

Take a extra anchor, anchor ball puller or knife. That s a good place to fish but will occasionally have a anchor for lunch on the rough bottom. We have donated two…and caught three…so sometimes the ocean does give back what it takes…two of the three were salvageable. Good luck to you.

Well, went out and fished it in a new to me Sea Hunt that I just picked up that morning (Saturday) Turned out the anchor was a piece of junk and I couldn’t get it to hold. Wind was blowing, tide was ripping and there were several boats to navigate around. Didn’t see anybody catching anything so gave up and headed to the marshes. Stupid anchor wouldn’t hold there either so we just did some shallow water exploring. Boat worked great. Getting a real anchor and will be back in a couple weeks. Thanks for the coordinates!!

Good danforth for everywhere there is mud or sand, a mitey-mite reef anchor for the grillage. Always put out a lot of rope/rode when anchoring at the Grillage in case you have to crank up and ride over a cantainer ship wake.

What kind of sea hunt do u have? Some of them have odd sized lockers. For mine I had 3 options. Find the 1 crappy anchor that fit but didn’t work. Buy an new steel anchor and cut the shaft or modify the locker to fit a better anchor. I lost #1, then after losing # 2 which was a pain to cut I went with 3. Stil gotta finish that job

by the way so you know in the future up under the resources tab there is coordinates to every reef, and or significant fishing spot in charleston, also on dnrs website

Heavier, longer chain helps tame those crappy anchors.

Anchor release: Shackle end of chain to bottom of anchor instead of the top, then run it back to the normal attachment spot leaving a little slack, zip tie in place. If your anchor gets stuck, you can pull hard enough to break the zip ties and it should jerk the anchor out backwards from the bottom.

I have a Triton 220. Probably the original anchor. Not sure how the prior owners dealt with it. I’m already bought a heavy anchor and 6ft of heavy chain. Haven’t tried it in the locker yet. Hopefully it fits.

I didn’t know that! Thanks! I’m going to try a couple of the offshore reefs next weekend.

If your fishin the Grillage a claw anchor is a must!
