Coordination

There are many good fishing organizations and individuals who are defending our freedom to fish and eat American seafood with some degree of success. Imagine how successful we could be if we all coordinated our efforts and helped each other with our different causes. Thousands of fishermen across America working together could solve almost any problem.

I have been making many connections over the past three years. My goal this year is to bring us together and build a coalition that will have at least as much influence as any corporate funded eco-charity. The key is to give fishermen, consumers, and concerned citizens easy ways to support or oppose different issues. We have POWER in numbers. Postcards that are already addressed to the relevant public servant or government agency are a cost effective way to get thousands of people involved. I have made over 10,000 postcards that helped to secure some great victories.

Funding my fight and paying for the postcards comes from selling calendars of pictures Ive taken while working around the water. I am putting the 2014 calendar together and wanted to see if anyone on here is interested in helping me. I am looking for advertisers that are involved with fishing or seafood as well as businesses that might want to sell the calendars. I am also looking for individuals who would like to purchase 1 calendar for $10 or 3 for $20 and receive the latest postcards. Please let me know if you have any ideas for new postcards supporting things like Senator Vitter’s bill extending state waters out ten miles. The postcards I have now are addressed to different SAFMC members opposing VMS, new MPAs, and Catch Shares while supporting positive alternative solutions for each of those things. My goal is to have several postcards for different issues that everyone ordering a calendar would receive, sign and send in. If one of the issues was particularly important to someone, they could request more postcards for that issue so they can get friends and family to sign and send them in.
