I headed to Copahee Sound early this morning with the hopes of catching the big one during the incoming tide. After a 20 minute paddle, I reached what looked to be the right spot. The early wakeup paid off. After just a few casts, I caught a 23 inch long Red (first yak Red) with my lucky pole. I sure was excited. So excited in fact, I broke my pole while getting the fish off the line. I’m not sure what happed, while I was fumbling around. All I know is my favorite pole is now too short to be affective. Well so much for the rod, but the nice fish made for a great day. By the way, I tried to fish the rest of the day with a broken rod. It seemed to work okay, but its magic was gone. No more fish for the day. Lesson learned, I’ll have to remember to take more than one rod.
Jeff , lets get together this comoing weekend and hit Copahee . Thinking Saturday if you are up for some paddling I can show you a couple good areas that are good at differnt times. Took my son out to Bushy yesterday despite the crowds , didnt fish much but just scouted around snuck in and out on the side of the ramp it was packed but no problems.
Scott, lets do it . Low tide is 10:30 ish so I am thinking about daybreak puttin in beat the tide out and then have the incoming later in the afternoon.
I’m up for fishing on Sat, but have to get permission from the wife. That’s right men. It’s a shame, but I have to ask the boss if I can go fishing. Anyone want to swap a fishing rod for good wife?
The launnch is on Gadsenville Rd on 17n about 6-7 miles from Mt Pleasant on the right as you go N on 17 there is a brown sign that says Copahee access as long as someone hasnt driven over it.
