Copahee sound

I have been here a couple of times, and have only ever caught trash fish. I have used soft plastics on jig heads, D.O.A shrimp, spinnerbaits, etc. I have used mud minnows as bait, because I have a hard time catching good bait. Mostly just fished the grass lines. I prefer to use lures, so what would be a good lure to use? That place is very cool and I would like to catch some decent fish.

first off, it is really hot out there right now and with has hot as the water temps have been the fishing has been slow. When it is this hot you need to be focusing on fishing structure such as docks, oyster beds grass lines and points near deeper water as the temp rise through the day the fish move to the deeper areas to cooler water. That being said, copahee is a relatively shallow water area and is usually better for me during late fall and winter and on into spring. The fish are still there throughout summer. Fish as early as you can there before it gets too hot with right at sunrise being your best times on a falling tide down to low tide and the last 3 hrs or so of incoming with these conditions paired together you will have the best results. I usually use mud minnows, cut mullet and live shrimp as well as frozen shrimp.
