Copper Free Bottom Paint Workshop on Friday

Charleston Waterkeeper will be hosting a workshop this Friday to introduce a copper-free, water-friendly antifouling bottom paint to the Charleston Community.

From 5-7pm on the Maritime Center’s t-head, come out to learn about ePaint, while the Charleston Waterkeeper patrol boat receives a new paint job.

11 of Charleston’s waterways are impaired due to excessive amounts of copper. Studies show that fisheries are harmed from leaching bottom paints which can affect their ability to smell, thus leaving them susceptible to predators.

Take PRIDE. Take RESPONSIBILITY. Take ACTION.

Not to mention that the main ingredient of bottom paint is Cuprous Oxide, which not only does as stated above but is a heavy metal (not to be confused with Iron Maiden) and will show up in your liver for the rest of your life if one is exposed to enough of it!
