How do yall keep the cork grips on your fishing rods in decent shape?
magic eraser by mr. clean. Will look brand new.
some will say a very fine grit sandpaper will work but i’ve never tried it
strip…strip…FISH ON!
agree with the above, I have always used a fine grit sandpaper but have had several people tell me the same about the magic eraser cleaner. This could be a better option, seeing as you are stripping off a small layer of cork with the sandpaper. good luck!

Bar Keepers Friend and an old tooth brush will have them looking like new. The acid really brightens the cork.

How fine grit of a sand paper are yall talking about?
Three-fourths of the Earth’s surface is water, and one-fourth is land. It is quite clear that the good Lord intended us to spend triple the amount of time fishing as taking care of the lawn.
I use 180 and then 220…finish it off with cork dressing…this usually lasts 2 seasons…best thing about the dressing is everything just washes off

“If you can’t win, make the guy in front of you break the world record.”
A member of the Carolina Antique Tackle Assn. gave me this tip–I tried it and it works!! Clean cork with super fine 0000 steel wool and wipe handles clean of dust, etc. Apply a light coating of neatsfoot oil with a cotton ball and wipe clean. The cork will absorb the neatsfoot oil and keep the cork soft and pliable.
10-4 as described , on the neats foot oil , used it for yrs…

all joking aside, with these oils you are putting on your cork handles, are you not concerned about these oils tainting your baits and possibly resulting in the fish dropping the bait quicker than a non-tainted bait?
Your buddies make fun of you for dirty fishing handles or what? I’m a freak about rinsing and oiling my reels, never had the thought of cleaning the cork handle to look new again.
