I know there were several on here last year participating in the removal of cormorants. Anyone else other than me doing it this year? I have killed the few that were hanging out in Bonneau. Heard other areas of the lake have large numbers. Anyone have any info on areas where they are thick or suggestions on where to go?
How do you cook them!

I was at short stay yesterday, right in front of the locks, they were knocking me down! Well, some of them guys couldn’t shoot for **** actually! I got pissed when they rained pellets into my boat, and I i had my four yr old with me! It did look fun, and I had my shotgun in the truck, but didn’t know for sure what permit I needed. The birds were flying the whole time! Tons of birds, looked like they were coming right over the dam from the tail race.
So, looks like you have to have the migratory bird permit? Are you SOL if you missed the 2 training classes? What else do you need to shoot those birds? Other than plenty of ammo?

Dress them out much like you would a chicken, stuff them with corn bread dressing, put in a brown and serve bag with taters, carrots and onions… Mmmmmm

That’s where we went today.
Yes, you had to attend a training class and be issued a permit and have a valid hunting licsense. The migratory bird permit is not necessary in this case.
I went out on the 15th planning to just use the leftover shells from duck season so I took about 40 shells out there. All said and done I put 14 in the boat. I forgot how much fun it was and glad I mailed all my paperwork back last year. I might have to go pick up a case of some cheap steel and go back up there before the 14 of next month. I usually put in at Short Stay and just set in the fly way between the channel and dam. All I know is that I didn’t put a dent in what was flying.
I don’t mind going to work but this sitting here for 8 hours waiting to go fish is bull.

Come down to the harbor or Wando and kill some of the birds down here! They were thick on Friday morning and for every bird I saw, I thought of the baby reds and trout that would never grow up to smash my topwater bait of grow to a 40lb bull patrolling the jetties. Also thought of all the poor mullet that the trout, reds and flounder wouldn’t get to eat because of those stinkin birds.
