Well, hello fellow kayakers…I’m brand new into posting on this website, but I have been reading these articles now and then during class. (Which probably isn’t the greatest idea… or is it??)
I just recently went to Cosgrove the other day and didn’t have any luck or clue to what I was doing. A friend that I had with me did manage to get a stingray with cut bait. But, me on the other hand not a thing. I did however casted a 8 foot cast net from my kayak, that was interesting and got some mullet. I was just curious on who goes to Cosgrove and fishes now and then. Maybe I could tag along one day in the future or anyone that would want to go on sunday???
Whats up man, I fished the cosgrove with no luck when I first got my yak, no luck at all, I would like to get together with ya, actually was planning shem creek on sunday but I might be willing to change plans, since I am a whole lot closer to the cosgrove … ride the tide, I really want to hit some of those power poles for sheepshead … they are loaded with barnacles and oysters … surefire for some sheepshead, also heard a guy talking about big reds in the bends on both sides of the bridge holler at me though I will check tomorrow after work, if you want to get back at me quicker shoot me an email, tarheels04@charter.net (they go to my phone) thanks man

i’ve fished cosgrove from the shore before i got a yak at the foot of the bridge casting towards the channel. i’ve only had luck at night on an incoming tide during the summer. any other time nothing at all. but at night on the last 3hrs of an incoming i’ve caught blue cats in the 10-15lb range on mud minnows and large croaker on earth worms. i always thought it was funny to catch freshwater species on a saltwater bait and saltwater species on a freshwater bait. but that’s all info i have for cosgrove.
I picked Cosgrove to fish, partly its the closest to my house, but Hurricane and I fished there this morning. Caught a flounder and he got some stingrays plus a few others here and there. It’s not much of a fishing paradise out there, thats for sure.
-I’m always on the look out for new spots, if anyone is willing to share I just don’t like the drive sometimes coming from Summerville.
-We did encounter another kayaker that was very new to kayaking, and possibly the most ignorant person I’ve ever talked too. Well you see, at first he gets tangled with Hurricane’s lines. Then, we find him out of his kayak with his kayaked flipped in the middle of the river!!! We offered him help and some relatively common sense advice but still insisted on staying in the water and kicking to shore with the current pushing him away from where he wanted to go… REAL SMART!
Bushy park isn’t too far and much better fishing there, I live in summerville too but I make the trip to the wando , stono and redfishville as much as possible… the fishin is worth the drive
