Cost for a well/pump?

Bought a house on Johns Island, within view of the Stono. I’m thinking about getting a well for potable water, to be used mainly for yard watering. Secondary use would be emergency drinking water.

Any idea of general cost to get a well/ pump system installed? Any recommendations on who to call?

This is the well i just got done for my new house. if you can get away from wanting it for a backup for potable water, you can get a ground water well dug for ALOT cheaper. some times its called an irrigation well.

It will depend a on the size of the well, the HP of the pump, and most importantly the depth they have to drill down to for the water. The invoice seems fairly high to me based on the ones I have had installed or had a part of having installed, but it’s been a while too.

You gonna talk or FISH!

Had one drilled last July by Johnny Martin 843-866-2030 who was recommended by Fred67. Drilled it 140’ & it’s nice water about 1500’ from marsh. He charged 3K for the job including submersible pump & galvanized tank plumbed up. Bought a cover from him for $350 after he said the sun is brutal on the exposed PVC piping. I would recommend him.

I second Johnny Martin,he did our well @ 1500feet, plumbed it all for $1800.00 give or take.

Double D.

Bay and DD about the same as my last one one here in upstate , ( 2100.00 pump and pres tank , 180 foot deep )

ONe thing I would recommend, a galvanized tank with automatic bleeder to keep it from getting “water” logged. Every Bladder tank I ever dealt with always ends up having the bladder fail, which will cause your pump to cycle off and on every use of water. My galvanized tank is about 20 years old and Dads must be 40 or more.

Also you will loose pretty much all sulfur smell as it introduces air anytime the pump comes on. I was shocked at how much better our water was after switching to the Galvanized tank and what ever valve was installed on it… Johnny would know and I’d imagine any well digger you choose. You may also try Breland’s well drilling… (843) 538-3340 I believe pricing between them and Martin are close.
