I know some of yall are Costa Rica regulars. I’m thinking about going. Which region is best? I’m looking at Guanacaste. What time of year? What’s on the list of “must see” things? I’m on a budget. Am I better off to fly into San Jose or Liberia? Thanks in advance for any advice.

seriously though Big Bonzo just got back from a Pacific side trip…don’t know all the particulars but spent some time by the Pacific then up towards the volcano and enjoyed the mountains…nice, easy living he said…

If you speak a little Spanish, it will save you some money. The English speaking establishments are much more expensive than the mom-n-pops places (restaurants, hotels, retail stores). The really touristy places aren’t the “real” Costa Rica, by the way. It’s amazing how poor that country is when you get away from the resort towns.
