Could it be???

Havent posted in long time but thought I should today. Left house 1145 today for a family day on beach by boat…got to 17 and complete down pour so went home watched radar and told wife all be good by 130 or so. back on road and drove iop marina where still raining so drove around a bit checking out some beautiful homes down iop lost a rod in rod holder. must of got caught on tree… clears up a bit get boat in water and were off…beautiful day after the rain. pull up on beach…Low tide and get everything off and of course set up rods for the kids with frozen shrimp and kids start hooking up pretty quickly 4 small sharks couple whiting then nice blue fish probably 9 inches. So I live line blue on my heavy cabo spinning setup. hour later kids playing with wife in water. im resetting anchor on beach when I hear line being stripped from my reel. I yell to my wife and start running to rod…which is totally bent over to water…wife hysterical watching me running like psycho to the rod. I get to it and its already to the backing. as I tighten drag look up and the fish is thrashing and I caught glimpse as it landed back in water after jump…tighten drag and pop. craziest 2 minutes on rod reel ever. guy comes running down beach and says that was a tarpon I had on. Now I cant say for sure and I didn’t see it but might of been. ive had sharks over there but haven’t seen them jump and this thing ran…What ever it was my kids got kick out of it as I did also. We also caught nice 20 inch plus trout on menhaden. menhaden thick. What a great family day. started out dark rainy ended up one of our best days together as a family. great to see my 5 year old enjoying reeling in fish. These days on the water with my wife and boys are priceless. IOP side dewees inlet

It could have been. Bait was there so naturally tarpon could be there feeding. Spinner sharks can give a good run and jump also. Black tips jump as well. I guess you’ll never know!

Great day! Thats what its all about. When you said the rod was bent over and you were reseting the anchor I thought I was going to read about the loss of rod #2.
