Couple AM 30's (picture added)

Got out a bit late at a new spot I’ve found but… still got a couple fish. I pick up my rod and noticed that the top eyelet came off. So I grabbed rod #2 and off I went. Getting there a bit late I figured I would only find the fat boys and it seemed to work out OK.

Caught two 30" fish that could have been twins. Both took a new fly that I had tied recently. Kind of a copperhead with a fur tail. Was using the 7wt and they bent it pretty good. The new fishing place is a great place with plenty of hard bottom and it makes (I think) the fish cruise more than tail. Caught one fish right against edge of the high ground and the other when the water got fairly shinny. Hit the skinny water fish on the prowl. Probably could have had a double if if had a drop hook. There were two fish fighting for the fly.

Off to the fishing store to get the tip put back on the 9wt. Just in case I get back out this afternoon or in the morning. Not many grass fishing weeks left.

Just a little update. Took my 9wt to Haddrell’s (where I bought the rod many moons ago). They replaced the tip while I waited. I didn’t even have to ask they just ran it back to the shop, replaced the tip and now I’m back to fishing. Sweeeeeet! :sunglasses:

Decided to see if the rod repair would work.

Works fine.

Fish were a little shorter today. Probably 28". My first fly rod eye is at 30" and this one was a bit short. Caught fish on crab fly and top water fly.

A 'home mix'. Anything with deer hair. If I find a picture, I'll post it.

If I could tie a Dahlburg, I’d be happy. I love to see reds hit that fly.
