Been waiting for the right day to head off shore and Sunday looked good.
Plan was to get out to about 140’ and start trolling out to the ledge for Wahoo, then come in and try my new jigging outfit.
Ran out at about 30 mph, saw loads of activity at about 75’ with lots of schools of I think Tuna hitting baitfish. I want to make sure I can take as maybe of that next time, what kind of rig do y’all have ready, something like you throw at Spanish?
Trolling wasn’t great, did get out to 220’ and as the day progressed got flatter and flatter.
Made my way back to about 100’ and got a grouper like fish. I couldn’t ID it though. Then I got my first Cobia on the jigging outfit. There were a ton of space fish out there as well, gonna make sure I bring a light rod and some bait next time I’m out as it would have been fun getting one or two of those.
It was tough coming in as it was so nice, but ran back at 55mph in total comfort.
