This is another one of those episodes of mis-information promulgated by the 'covid is a hoax' folks. Hospitals were provided additional funding through the COVID relief bill to help defray the additional costs associated with taking care of the large influx of COVID-19 cases that were coming in. This extra financial support came from CMS. It was not a $$$ per covid diagnosis issue. This is the kind of mis-information that causes that distrust of which you speak. Spreading this mis-information contributes to the mistrust.
This was told to me by a very knowledgable and reliable person fairly high up in state government. I prefer to beileve her rather than you a this point so you’ll just have to excuse my “spreading misinformation”. AND, I never said it was a $$$ per covid diagnosis issue.
They did an interview on NPR last week about the issue of some Medical Facilities getting extra funding for Covid Patients . Doc in the interview said they do in some situations. Some states more than others. They actually had a couple of documented cases, one was a motorcycle driver died in ambulance headed to Hospital after a wreck. They said he was positive for covid and Death certificate stated cause of death… “covid”.
I believe the numbers are inflated. But like so many things today how do you get the real numbers out when the Media is biased against anything their journalists don’t like to report on or are not in favor of?

Fauci…Director of the National Institutes of Allergy and Infectious Diseases at NIH, a career in “basic and applied research to prevent, diagnose, and treat established infectious diseases such as HIV/AIDS, respiratory infections, diarrheal diseases, tuberculosis and malaria as well as emerging diseases such as Ebola and Zika.” (NIH website), an advisor to six presidents (Republican and Democrat) on HIV/AIDS and many other domestic and global health issues.

That’s misinformation…the current vote tally for the current election indicates 51.07% of the popular vote or 79,805,813 were for Biden and 73,780,253 popular votes or 47.22% were for trump. Therefore, reality indicates trump lost. Even if you were referring to the 2016 election…the reality is that trump lost that popular vote as well: Popular vote, 65,853,514 for Clinton and 62,984,828 for trump. Quite the accomplishment, in two elections trump lost the popular vote both times.
