Possibly a really dumb question but has anyone eaten the wings of sting rays? I caught a 16 pounder but turned him lose. Later someone told they are good eating. But I’ve heard people say that about all kinds of fish that I wouldn’t eat myself. If eating them is lousy, how about using them for bait?
“The Son is the radiance of God?s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word.” Hebrews 1:3
Tried it once. Horribly strong fish/mud taste.
Not sure about bait, I’m guessing it would make good shark bait.

Honestly don’t know about ray wings…which probably eliminates any useful information coming from my post…
But skate wings are the bee’s knees. Very tasty, delicate, & sweet.
Yes, I have tried them. There is a seafood store off Folly Road near Folly Beach that sells them. Not bad at all, in fact just tastes like your generic fried fish you get at a restaurant. Bread them and then fry them.

Perhaps I had a particularly nasty one, but I know the cownose that I caught tasted like a pan-fried cow patty, and I’m not really all that exaggerating lol.

Oh, not sure about Cow Nose, I was just talking about a regular sting ray, not sure if there’s a difference.
we baited a crab pot with stingray once and the crabs wouldn’t eat it. That was all I needed to know.
the most useful thing I learned in college: if you put one paper bag inside another, you can carry draft beer
I was on a cross country trip in 1975 we were going up the California coast outside of San Fransico, noticed this hole in the wall looking place that was packed, cars parked up and down the sides of the road, well we decided to check it out.Had some of the best food ever, wooden floors you could just about see through, well we noticed some camotion on the back deck and decided to invite ourselves on back, the locals treated us like family, said they were having a contest on the biggest rays. They would bring them in weigh them skin and clean them up and throw them on a grill that looked like an old cistern, well between that and the oysters on the grill we ended up staying all day and into the evenig,it was truly a memorable day and the way they prepared the rays they were great.
