Cowzilla 2-25

Came real close to cancelling this one on Thursday but the weather started trending toward the good in the afternoon. Made our customary gentleman’s start at 5:30, heading blindly into the ocean due to the lack of any good SST shots for several days. Had fished shallow last two trips but nothing looked good until around 200 with scattered weeds and a little temp bump. Got one fish early that had to be one of the largest cows I have caught but not much else. Started picking up nice size dolphin in 300ft here and there out to 600 and raised a sail that would not eat. Decided to turn back inshore to pick away rather that heading out to find the mother load. By the time we got bs k to 500ft a little weed line had formed that was loaded with bait and fish and it was nonstop from then on. Caught mostly doubles and triples of mixture of gaffers and big slingers with a few studs thrown in. Hooked a big Marlin for about 30 seconds that spit the hook, that was immediately eaten by a dolphin so the poor guy on the rod thought he had the Marlin still on until he saw a 20# dolphin jump. Ocean was way nicer that forecasted and the afternoon blow never happened. Had another first timer on board who got a lot of experience reeling and our regular crew worked like dogs between the weeds and the fish.

Very nice!!!

“…be a man and PM me.”

Those are some fine dolphin.

Good report, as usual. Well done, sir.
