CPR / First Aid Training

One of our members, Carl Thompson, is a certified trainer in CPR and First Aid and has graciously offered his services to club members and affiliates to put on a class, if there is enough interest. There is a modest fee for this training. The successful completion of the course comes with a two year certification. Please let us know if you’re interested and we will secure a facility to provide this valuable training.

Interested. Keep me posted. Thanks, Jim.

I’m working with Carl to set up a training class at my office for some of my foreman that need to get certified again. We are looking at August 10th at 9:00 AM. Would you guys just want to come over at that time? I know we will have enough people for the class to be held.

Shawn,

It’s a tough call…we have a lot going on here at work in August business-wise that I don’t want to really get into…but I’m not sure I can commit to it because I have to be very flexible during work hours for the next month.

I could probably make it after 4:30 or 5pm that day, because afternoons on a Friday are probably more likely to work vs the morning. Any idea how long (hours) the course will be? If you guys need to hold the course without me, I would understand…but I really can’t commit to anything during work hours in August.

Also - maybe this is a question for Jim…but is this CPR course USCG approved (if there is such a thing)? Kind of important given that I need it for Sea School purposes.

The CPR, AED, Choking for Adult, Child, & Infant is a American Heart Associated certified course. I also teach for the American Red Cross Association with the same course. So this course would have to approved by the USCG. First Aid is a different course but I can teach it also. The course is suppose to be 4 hours but all depends on the students.

Let me know if you have other questions…

Thanks, Carl! I need both the CPR and First Aid courses for Sea School but I guess we’ll see what we can line up here logistically. I’ve taken these before so I am somewhat familiar, though I understand the CPR training has changed a little (based on your presentation at the MSC meeting a while back.)
