I’ve been asked to consruct a crab pot. Does anyone know of where I can purchase the mesh wire. Chicken wire is too thin. Thanks. Buying one is NOT an option here.

PVC coated hexagonal wire,or PVC coated wire.the hexagonal is chicken wire.It is available in 1"mesh, 20 gage.the coated wire is hardware cloth,1"mesh 16gage.Both are common in crab pot construction.

don’t forget some stainless steel hog rings,and some hog ring pliers.

I hope the one you are constructing for is a special one!

son #1 has 1 in the garage, when he gets home from school i’ll axe him if you can have it.

you might want to try rabbit wire. it is 1/2" square wire. pretty stable yet flexible. just a thought.
