We put out 3 Crab Pots Friday afternoon at Bull’s Bay. Pulled them Saturday evening and had 78 Crabs, 60 of which were keepers, and they were ALL male Crabs. Can someone explain WHY no females? Not complaining, just curious.
They were steamed, and along with some Oysters and fried Gator Tail made a GREAT dinner around the fire last night…
Every single soft crab I got this year was female. Soft crabs are big money but it has to be taking a toll on the fishery. Just MPO.
That said, glad y’all had a good haul. I love crab.

I believe the females are busy laying eggs and are not in the bay this time of year.I will ask my crab man buddy this week and see what he says.Sounds like y’all had a great feast but your gator was too big for my liking.Them 5 footers are the best eatin.haha
Caught several shrimping in Bulls Bay yesterday,all female.Go figure.
Soft crabs are usually always female. The trap is baited with a Jimmy.
Daddy always called it pimpin for females lol
From what I’ve heard crab catch is good all over now.
