Hey I have a couple of little kids coming down to Charleston and they want to do some crabbing. Where is a good, safer place to go?
Thanks

The two free piers in Mt. Pleasant can be decent. The boardwalk at Shem Creek (the safest one probably) and Pitt Street. I think you can also crab at the waterfront parks in downtown Charleston.

add to that list the ‘crabbing’ dock at James Island county park.
And the dock and beach at sunrise park next to James island yacht club.off of fort Johnson road. I have seen people also crabbing from the beach on the backside of folly beach county parkas the water is calmer there…one kid had 7 the other day…nice crabs too. Could park at the park and walk around to that area. …wouldn’t be as busy as the others either…never but a couple people there when we’ ve been.

Also the new dock and pier under the West Ashley side of the Cosgrove bridge.
And I think they have built a small pier onto part of the West Ashley Greenway.
