Tomorow I go back to work after having a week off.
Yes the wind blew…and it rained buckets and buckets.
And then rained some more.
Daddy said it rained a whole lot at his house Thursday night…“1/3 of a boot full” which meant someone forgot to take their boots in:wink:
Despite it all I still was able to make three trips to Mcclellanville to crab with daddy.
Three days of puling pots by hand…golds gym doesn’t have anything on the work out I got pulling and shaking pots…piling them up high on the bow…then taking them down to toss back over…doing the crab dance…and the "daddy took off without warning me " dance:smiley:
Three days of stories and pictures etched in my heart…three days of filling my lungs with the smell of the marsh and salt, and my heart with so many things that I saw and love.
Three days of time with my daddy…learning and listening and being reminded again of how blessed I am.
Each day I would arrive to see him looking out the door , waiting for me to pull up a little before 6 as I always do…but acting as if he had just done this in passing. His big smile would give him away and I would also see the appreciation in his eyes for the hardees biscuits I always arrived with.
We would sit in the dimly lit living room waiting for daylight and I would listen to the low rumble of his voice as he would talk about the day ahead and other things.
Mom would hear us and eventually come in to tell us that she hoped we had a good day and a lot of fun…our cue to mosey on and let her go back to sleep
we would get to the ramp and would see Charles and some other friends/family each day…and after a hello and more biscuit gifts here and there… we would be on our way.
We pushed off from the dock and the water was suddenly churned beside the boat…
and who should appear…nooo…not santa and his reindeer silly…my friend the Dolphin!!
Great stuff thanks

I hope the new pot puller is quieter than the one it’s replacing, like your Daddy said! I’ll bet he tells you if it is! Penny, did your Daddy give up on his minnow business:question: Glad to see your friend is still around:smiley:
even a mule pulling a grinding mill stone would be quieter then me:)
yes…he is getting ready to start “minnowing” again…in fact he said if I didn’t know what to get mom for mothers day I could get her a pair of shiny minnow traps…hahaha yeah right …that would go over real well

Awesome pics and narrative! That tide sure is low. Which ramp is that?

That is awesome!!!
Yes we did on the lamp…and the ramp is the one at Jeremy creek boat launch in Mcclellanville.
The guy is the golf cart is the deputy sherif checking parking stickers in the lot for launching.
Talked to daddy this afternoon and he had 94 peelers…and several empty and open traps. …and some he had to look for that were moved. Stinks!
He did say the pot puller worked great but wasn’t as much fun as me. Hahahaha thanks daddy!

I bet someone would be willing to loan your dad a trail cam to catch his thief. I’d love to hear about someone getting busted for robbing his traps.

We were told Someone did set up a trail cam and caught someone on tape…don’t know if it is true…don’t know if it got the thief arrested.
I’d like to see them do it and then jump out with my high powered paintball gun and color them yellow…and hot pink…and lime green…
It was fun when I use to shoot donnie that way…would be even better with a thief

I’m pretty sure that I wouldn’t want your Daddy catching me stealing his crabs
