After two weeks of post surgery care on donie…basicaly telling him…“you cant do that”…we both agreed that it would do us both good if I went crabbing with daddy…giving donnie and I both a break.…so after many threats of “if I find out you did this while I was gone…” I called daddy to tell him I would see him saturday morning.
We hit the water around 0600. Water temp was 71 and it looke d to be a pretty day ahead of us. Heres a few pics…I love to see the sunrise, and set on the water…a time when you find yourself sucking in a big deep breath of fresh air, salt and marsh…and wondering why you were so stressed the day before. When they say “Life is good”…they must be talking about on the water.
Daddys “winch”…shhh…dont tell momma:wink:
ok…so its peeler season…you know…when the young females shed their shells for bigger ones. There are different crab pots used for this…smaller mesh…lighter in weight…no escape “hatches” for the little girls to sneak out of because unlike with regular crabs…there is no five inch minimum…any that are ready to shed are ok to keep.
A lot of people think that soft shell crabs are caught…“soft”…when actually they are caught …as daddy says…“ripe”…placed in tanks to shed. A process that takes time and a lot of watching. If you ever want to
Penny, you need to get a video camera and record some of your daddy’s stories and of you being with him. You won’t have to share those if you don’t want to…they’d be just for you.

What Claim said. Their are several people I would still love to hear their voice telling an old story. I’ve got a couple of cassette recordings from my grandfather about WW1 and ll. bad recording but priceless. So many things change with time. I never had to use an out-house, but I do remember no A/C on a hot summer night.
Y’all are welcome!guessif you want a book you will have to print this off and put in a binder…lol. Going with daddy Sunday and Monday…woo hoo. Peeler crabs did better today…he had a little over 300.
