crabbing

has anyone tried crabbing on the stono near james island creek? thinking of bringing the canoe down next weekend with a couple crab traps to hopefully get a few for the wife.

Well last week the crabber I know said they were “crawling” he got 12 bushels and there are still pots out, crabbers will pull them if it gets real slow.

“crawling” as in it’s slow? or “crawling” as in they are active and the fishing is good?

Folly River and behind Morris Island this week looking for whiting:
We were pulling up crab two at a time on a two drop bottom rig with cut shrimp.
We had to shake them off to make them let go.

sounds like they were hungry. hopefully they are that hungry further up the stono

Crawling means active if it gets to cold the go in the mud. When it warms up they start crawling.
