Crabbing

We come down the weekend of Thanksgiving every year to I’sle of Palmes. Normally we look for crab pots to see how deep they are being fished. Then we find a similar depth and put our pots out elsewhere. This year we have not seen a single crab pot. Are the crabs not around for some reason? Any help would be appreciated.

Not sure about that area but they were a nuisance on the Beaufort area Saturday and many crab pots scattered around.

Where have you looked? There’s at least one fairly new line of pots along the ICW by Bug Is., and seemingly more pots lately in other spots in the SI/IOP areas.

75 pots for 10 bushels for my buddy that crabs. That is good for this time of year. The crabs are still around.

We ended up dropping them day 1 in a spot that worked last year. It worked first day. We’ve seen a lot of pots now. I guess it was just the area we checked out the first day. They are everywhere as usual. Thanks guys!

How long did you leave the pot? How many keepers?

We are getting more than we can eat. 15-20 keepers a day between two pots. We have been checking them every afternoon.

Pots all over the place around Edisto this Thanksgiving weekend. Stopped at a couple and they were in 9 feet water at about mid-tide
