Put the trap in and got about 12 crabs.Most no legal.Still plenty of crabs around.:smiley:

Similar here, Stonoman. 18 over one cycle. All jimmies and most legal.

I need to get me a trap! Mullet, and MM produced nothing for me! Looks like Im gonna sart fishing crab.

Stonoman…glad you brought that up…so you’re saying catch some craps…pull off legs, pop the top then freeze them? and they’ll still produce? That would be sweet. Gotta dust off my crab pot!

Just freeze them as you ,catch them.i chum the area with the claws.

question stono, do they fall apart easy once froze, I found this out with fiddlers … speaking of fiddlers I found a TON, well maybe not a Ton more like 1/20th of a ton

i get those gallon zip lock bags and put 2 or 3 crabs in them depending on the size. i also put a little water in hte bag and lay in on its side on the freezer so the crabs wont dry out and they wont move around in the bag. i have had my brother pull them out and play with the bag and my mom constantly sets stuff on top of my crabs, and mullet and shrimp, and the crabs are fine. my momma squashed an entire gallon bag of finger mullet oneday, i was so mad and i was going to use those baits the next day.

There is no greater fan of fly fishing than the mud minnow.

I know alot of the time the crabbers over here on the JI and Kiawah/Johns Island side will sell em to you right out the trap for a buck a piece. We just flagem down and ask. Couple dozen minnows and 5 or 6 crabs and you should be set.

Oh yea I know as far as freezing them, if you freeze them in milk it keeps them very well. When you thaw them they are like right out the water no smell or brittleness.
