"Crack Thump" One Last Time HHI Grouper Action !!!

Got the guys together for a trp Friday and my " First Mate " was rip rarin to go with Dad. I got home from my trip on thursday and he had all my gear lined up in the garage. Not just the essentials but everything I owned! After putting back 90% what my 7 year old selected, I had the truck loaded up. We rolled out at 0300 running 30 kts nearly all the way. Ran to last weeks new numbers and had lines in the water before the sun rose. Mostly just porgies until the sun hit the water and then it was on. Brad the G whiz pilot put the first gag in the boat and his first grouper ever. It was fun to watch that boy grunt all while being relentlessly heckled by us. The action was non stop for a few hours. After dropping one on the deck D lost a big one that had a one way ticket back to his hole. Two hours later I got nailed and I didnt care if my arms came out of their sockets i wasnt losing this fish. The Stud hit the deck and had a surprise in his mouth, D’s circle hook and mine !!

After getting drilled last week I decided to load up a couple 50 wide internationals with a new super thin braid that i am testing and Scott didnt dissappoint when he laid a whoopin on what was the biggest fish of the day!!

Got some great scamp and gags, a golden tile, and Brendan brought a nice snowy up from the deep. The porgy’s were just everywhere and we must have thrown back a hundred of them along with our tile that we caught 48 hours early. Surprisingly not a single bsb the entire day but we did catch some beeliners, ARS, Donkeys, couple triggers and a half dozen sharks one of which ran over all our lines and just made a mess.

Just an absolutely great day and what an end of the season. Had a cookout with some friends tonight and had freash grouper and elk burgers and it was amazing.

The highlight of the trip was my 7 year old driving the boat home and telling me that " I make him so happy " Makes it hard to hold the tears back. The kid is a machine I dont know another boy that can do a 3am to 8pm trip 65 miles offhore wit

Set the trap boys, we going to pass through them again!!

What a great way to end the Year! I’am pretty sure we talked with yall we were in a carolina blue Triton. We ended up with one nice dolphin and a bunch of other bottom critters most of which had to go back down. but it was a wonderful day on the water and was able to run as fast as we wanted there and back. My youngest is 15 now and it feels like he is taking me fishing now instead of me taking him. Enjoy all you can they grow up fast. are yall fising out of HHI?

Yes we met up at R8 as we were working our way back in. Are you out of wexford?

We should get together for a trip shoot me a pm

great day for you and your son,my son and best friend is now 32,and i will go to Jax AT THE DROP OF A HAT to fish with him. I remember like it was yesterday he was 5yrs old tearing across santee cooper driving a bassboat sitting on my lap grinning ear to ear!( his fav song is drive by Alan Jackson) his sister is the same way, they were raised on the water and spent every weekend boating with the family! Spend all the time with them you can, it is fleeting and will pay rewarding dividends!

If it got any better I couldn’t stand it.

We are out of Knowles Island off the broad. Would love to put together a trip.

Good stuff. Spending some quality time with the little man is what it’s all about. Looks and sounds like it would have been a great day even if y’all hadn’t caught a single fish…

Nice fish looks like a great day but you really!!! need to change your name to “Boeing 787” this is charlestonfishing.com not frenchfishing.com!!!
