I thought everyone on this forum should know the sad news, please visit Beaufort/ Hilton Head forum for info on the Captain’s passing. I appreciated his no nonsense, wise, advice.
I had been emailing him periodically and knew he had been very ill. My last email went unanswered, now I know why. What a terrible shame. For those of you that knew him, you know what a great person he was, for those of you that did not, you missed out on knowing a special person. I met Larry when he offered to “help” me do a minor repair on the deck of my boat. Wanting to meet the man in person, I took him up on his offer and dragged my boat to his house in Georgia. He insisted I leave my boat with him and said he would take care of it. I trusted him instantly and did so. While I was there, he showed me his personal boat which he built as well as a beautiful boat he was building for another man. Larry had a varied and interesting life, was always ready to help folks that had questions and was willing to share his knowledge and expertise. God Bless you Larry and Rest in Peace.

I didn’t know him either but could tell he was a good guy from all his post.
My prayers go out to his family.
Sad news indeed. I only knew Larry through this site, but could tell he was a good man. I enjoyed his posts & builds. Rest in Peace Larry.

I had a very similar experience with Larry to what DFreedom described. He offered to install my cooler tie downs when I was seeking advise on this forum. I trusted him immediately and left my boat with him the day I first met him. He showed me his boat and the one he was building. He really did great work.
He will be greatly missed especially on these forums.
so sad. thanks for letting us know
Never met the guy, but character shined through all of his posts here. He will be missed
Never met Larry, face to face! I talked to him on this site publicly and privately. We shared some past experiences in our lives and built a trust between us. We knew where we were coming from. Larry sent me a keepsake, that he had, for more that 40 years, after I told him that I had lost mine! He understood the meaning we attached to them! I was in contact with Larry, after he went home from his stay in the hospital. What he shared with me. was meant for me, so I’ll keep it to myself. He was a special man, that CFC members and all that brushed by him in passing, are the better for! My sympanthy’s are extended to Mrs Larry and Son. RIP Brother.
Easy
Awful. I’m more of a lurker on this site, but would always make a point to follow his threads and click on anything he ever posted, as he was a wealth of knowledge. It’s weird - just yesterday I was on here and clicked around to see where he’d been, as it seemed odd not to have him around - I couldn’t find anything, and then today I see this. This is news I really hate to hear. My condolences to his family and friends.
St Peter needed a new skiff built! Cracker was like Penny. Anything they posted was always worth reading.
He would readily help and ask nothing in return
WE WORKED TOGETHER ON A SKIFF. HE BUILT IT AND WE POWERED IT. HE WAS REALLY GOOD PEOPLE.
