Cranking in cold weather

I have a 2008 Mercury Verado 150.Is there any need to crank the motor with all the cold weather we’ve had?

For two strokes it is better to let it sit than idle while its cold. For four stroke it doesn’t matter as much. I would just make sure to keep the battery charged up and not worry about cranking it over.

You need to make sure there is no water left in the cooling system. Store it with the foot all of the way down. If you are going to let it sit longer than 30 days, a good idea to have it winterized.

This is what is recommended in your owners manual, scboatservice is right for long term storage, you should also store your battery in your garage, monitor the voltage and keep it charged.
Positioning Outboard for Storage
Store outboard in an upright (vertical) position to allow water to
drain out of outboard.
NOTICE
Storing the outboard in a tilted position can damage the outboard.
Water trapped in the cooling passages or rain water collected in
the propeller exhaust outlet in the gearcase can freeze. Store the
outboard in the full down position.
Battery Storage
• Follow the battery manufacturer’s instructions for storage and
recharging.
• Remove the battery from the boat and check water level.
Recharge if necessary.
• Store the battery in a cool, dry place.
• Periodically check the water level and recharge the battery
during storage.

running the motor periodically is always a good idea, freezing or not.
