What is the best guess for the crappie to head for shallow water under the current cold and wet conditions? Windom needed! Thanks
Can anyone give me some advice on what is the best way to fish for crappie out of Short stay. I have a new 16 foot g3 and the only thing I seem to be able to do is feed the fish. I am new to lake fishing and could sure use a little advice. any help at all would be great. thanks
I do not know the area and I am not a crappie fisherman. What I do on other species is ask questions, ack dumb and listen well. Also, always study the way people rig.
Good luck

Frank, the downside in fishing out of Short Stay (particularly in a 16’ boat) is it can get nasty around there when the wind kicks up.
If you do fish out of there, you can usually find somewhat sheltered water around the rocks on the dam either side of SS.
In that size boat, it may benefit you to put in at the Shriners Landing in the back of Pinopolis Cove, the back of Bonneau at that landing on the little canal, Russelville, Angels, or Blacks Camp. Those spots offer sheltered areas you can fish when it’s windy.
And if you are new to the lake, I will tell you that in any size boat, if the water gets rough, especially a storm coming in, get to the nearest piece of land and wait it out. Do NOT try to make it back to the ramp, especially in a small boat. A lot of people have lost their life on Moultrie over the years in rough water, and I don’t want anyone to be the next statistic.
A bad day fishing is much better than a good day at work.
