crawfish

Is there anywhere around Charleston that somebody could catch some crawdads that are worth eating?

It would take a lot of work to harvest enough for dinner.

I called a crawfish farm in Sumter in the spring and plan to buy some in a month. The place is called Hawthornes Crawfish in Sumter.

That or you can mail order them from the Bayou. My friend does all the time. It is more expensive, but they are quality. http://www.lacrawfish.com/

PM or call Sellsfish, he has them or can get them at his store!

Charleston, yes. Charleston, SC, no. Havent ever heard anyone around here catching them. Used to be a lot in my Grandmother's creek in Charleston, West Virginia.

Buying them takes the fun out of it…especially if they’re already cooked ______$!

I think sellsfish has live! So only 1/2 the fun! You get the other 1/2 when you visit sells! He’s going to buy them anyway so why go all the way to Sumter, when he lives in Summerville?

Well looks like I’ll be headin to Sells…again!!!

Upper Lake Marion accessed near Low Falls landing (Calhoon Co.), Packs landing, and Elliots Landing Clarendon co), has been producing a considerable amount of crawfish since the lake came back up after the 2007 drought. The phenominal stories have stopped, but there still are enough up there to warrant a crawfishing trip. Some of Beagle Woman’s old posts show some nice crawfish caught while bream fishing. I’ll bring the Cayenne pepper.

Anything around Moultrie?

So, just made some calls and noone locally has any crawdads.

Low Falls is where I catch them when I want some.

Any tips you can give me? Never been to catch any myself other in ditches when I was a kid.

get a few minnow traps and some beef stew meat. find you a swamp with fairly deep water. after you catch the craw fish put them in a ice chest with clean water and let soak in the fresh water, than cook them.

cool thanks

Had a friend tell me a couple of days ago he used to get crawfish from here…

But that was 40 years ago, when you weren’t in fear of you life in Ferndale.

I use rod and reel with an earthworm to catch them. Seriously. I have traps but have not tried them. I found the crawfisj out around the islands of trees.
