Creek advice needed (near IOP)

Hello All,

I used to freshwater fish a LOT, but have only saltwater fished a little back when I was younger. Mostly it was from the pier at Boy Scout Camp at Wadmalaw. My wife wants to go fishing (which makes me excited) but our only day is tomorrow and we will be out at Wild Dunes. I figured we would do some bank fishing in a creek or IW because I haven’t gotten the boat back up and running yet. We don’t want to surf fish and we don’t want to have to wander too far from IOP. Any help is most appreciated. We will just be catching and releasing for fun and I am looking for any help you can give on a spot and/or techniques. Thanks ladies and gents!

PS- Sorry I posted this in the reports section first.

Call 843-886-0209 and see if the marina can set you up with a charter. It would be money well spent. Not much access from land for fishing. The pier on the island is only accessible to people staying in the Sea Cabins. People fish the inlet between IOP and Sullivans and catch sharks mostly. The 14" baby blacktips are out in force. You could also call 886-5000 and get setup with another group on an inshore trip if you don’t mind being with other people. Good luck.
If you do call the marina and it is only 2 of you request a Flats boat that will take you back into the skinny water.
