Creek question at low tide

Yesterday we were fishing creeks at dead low after catching plenty of finger mullet and shrimp. After moving around quite a bit we pretty much got skunked and I’m thinking because there is just too much bait around for all the fish to eat that the chances of hitting mine are small. I did switch to an electric chicken later but it was almost time to go.
Do you all fish plastics with color this time of year or when the creeks are full of bait? Or did I just have a crap day and live bait is always better?

pretty much this.

Everyone has a bad day. Were you in moving water, or just fishing the slack tide? Not much usually happening during slack tides.

Personally, I pretty much use artificial bait 99% of the time.

I have also had that same issue when bait is everywhere. I’m like you, with so much food around the chances they will hit mine are slim.

A hooked bait is easier to catch than the rest, if the fish are eating there, they’ll find it.
