Heading to Crooked Island in a few weeks. I’ve fished the Bahamas but not this region. Putting my fly box together for BF and Permit. Wondering if anyone has experience they can share regarding fishery, flats characteristics, fly patterns, etc. Staying at Crooked and Acklins Trophy Lodge so will rely on guides once I get there but want to be prepared. I’ve got some advance info from the lodge but looking for more.
I’m interested to hear any responses. I’m taking two guided trips in Abaco in July. This website that I have used as a resource for which flies to tie mentions Crooked Island quite a bit… It may be fairly general, but its helped me narrow down sizes and patterns. http://www.bahamasflyfishingguide.com/crooked-and-acklins-islands.html
Good luck.
Sounds like a great trip!
I have not been to that specific area but in general terms Crab Flies are widely used for Permit.
