A little more/different info might help. Not familiar with ‘Crosbeys.’ Does it have another name? Where is it, specifically?

Oh. Never used it. Memory of driving over the Ashepoo, there, is fresh water vegetation. Pretty good ways from the ocean.

sorry. Not much help.

I have used it years ago. You have to pay a small fee to launch, but your truck/trailer are safe there. I have a friend who owns an island down the Ashepoo and I have left my truck and trailer there for days without a problem. He recently poured a new ramp about 4-5 years ago… As far as fishing that area, I haven’t fished it enough to give an accurate report, but I know people who fish it frequently, so there must be something there…

I NEED TO PREFACE THIS BY SAYING:
this is in reference to the landing that is on the left side of 17 <travelling southbound> does not have a sign but i think its referred to as Joe’s Fish Camp… “small fee”… slight understatement

i have not used “Crosby’s”, the facility that is across the road, but i believe that place requires membership.

if you will have guests with you, make sure they ride with you to the ramp. parking charge even for vehicles that do not have a trailer attatched.

2 winters ago i put in at joe’s for a duck hunt. i had my boat, and a buddy had his. my brother drove down from charleston to meet us. we put our money in the drop box but were unaware of the charge for the extra car and went on to out hunting spot. upon our return, there was a not so nice note placed on my brothers windshield stating that he owes…(i think $10) in the box and they have taken down his license plate number. we all pooled the cash we had together to put in an envelope and left a note that we did not know of the non-trailer vehicle parking fee.

we have not gone back due to the fees, and likely wont. any time we want to run the Ashepoo, we put in at “Brickyard”, which is about half way down Bennetts Point Road next to the big bridge or go all the way to Bennets Pt.

EDIT: i am not sure about the catfish in that area… but do not go the Bennets Point route if youre looking for them…thats probably too far downriver, unless you want take a long boat ride through some pretty areas

stumps up the river

They must have raised their “Fee” since I was last there. It used to be $5, which was quite reasonable at the time. I would have to agree, $10 is pretty steep to launch, but if you go the other route and put in near Bennet’s Point, you will burn more than the additional $5 in gas between the vehicle and boat, so I guess its a catch 22…
