I’m glad we have a good inlet here in Charleston to travel in and out to sea. Check out the northwest coast.
I wouldn’t want to have to travel this on a regular basis!
This video is of commercial fishing boats coming back from fishing out off the coast of Washington & Oregon . They are crossing the Columbia Bar, which is where the Columbia river meets the Pacific Ocean . What is so hazardous is the propeller and/or rudder can be damaged when it hits the bottom when the boat is in a trough between the waves. Without “steerage” the boat goes sideways to the waves and turns over.
It s recognized as one of the world’s most dangerous inlets to travel. There are at least 8 to 10 deaths per year trying to enter this channel and cross this bar!
Bonzo; They are outside, so they don’t get caught inside, if it goes over! It looked as if that guy was taking pictures with his phone! The scaredist I’ve ever been on the ocean, was getting caught in a storm off the coast of WA, in a 21 ft Trophy. Monster waves!
They don’t call it the “Graveyard of the Pacific” for nothing! Some of my old stomping grounds right there. Kind of makes one turn their nose up at the Stono Inlet a bit. Wait untill the summer salmon run out there and the mosquito fleet shows up in force in their trailer boats!

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Yeah Russ. That storm I got caught in, was out of West Port, WA. We were 4 miles out from the rocks and about 8 miles North. Took us 6 hours to get back in! That is glossing over that ride, to just put a time on it!
