jimmy,I don’t know about the ins and outs of FM but I have shot crows before! You may call some in to a spot on day 1 but you won’t get many after that! Crows are some smart birds and you will have to keep moving from place to place, because they won’t be back.

Crows
A hunting license is required to hunt crows. Crows are migratory birds and as such, are a federally-protected species. The season is based on criteria established by the US Fish and Wildlife Service. The open season for crows on private lands in South Carolina is Nov. 1 - Mar. 1. There is no bag limit. During the open season on private lands, crows may be taken with any firearm, bow and arrow, or by falconry. Crow hunting on WMA lands is permitted. During the open season for small game hunting on WMAs, crows may only be
The use of electronic calls for crow hunting is permitted statewide on private land and WMA land. Crows damaging crops may be taken at any time using non-toxic shot without a federal permit (50 CFR 21.43).

I’ve shot crows in the same spots every day this week and have been successful each time, high brass #4’s and a full choke, the trick is don’t miss. They’re only as smart as you make them.

I used to shoot crows from blinds as a kid. This was in southern PA. The crows up there Yard up in the winter. They will roost in 1 particular woods, thousands of them. In the morning they would fly on well defined flight lines away from the roost. What you did was find a hill top where one of these flight lines came across. If they were fighting a head wind they would cross the hill low enough to shoot. If you shot them from that spot more than once they would move the flight line 1/2 mile to either side. So, you had to move with them.

What do you do with the crows that you kill?

Dispose of them.

Crow breast tastes like venison but is much more tender.

Wait until they’re down under the tree canopy right on top of you before you start blasting. If you shoot too early, they’ll all disappear and won’t come back to that spot…ever.

The only time I’ve eaten them was in 2012. That year, my new year’s resolution was to eat new foods. It was very difficult to get past the fact that I was eating a crow. They have an image of being dirty animals, but if you look at a healthy one it is a very clean bird…

Anyway, be prepared to be grossed out by the crow’s reputation if anyone else wants to try it. It was fine tasting meat, and you get 2-3X the meat vs. a dove.

I would have to be very hungry to eat another one. I would just put them in my freezer and throw them out on trash day. :sunglasses:

Why would you assume that?

Cause they kept coming! Local birds would avoid that place like the plague
