kut, I’ve never been to the all inclusive resort but the wife and I are about to take our 5th cruise in Sept. For us, it works great. We prefer it over any other type of vacation we have ever been on. As far as what you’ll spend… last year, we took a 7 day cruise to The Bahamas, St. Thomas, and St. Marteen. The price of the cruise for both of us, was about $1200. We spent proabably another $400 on excursions. To give you an idea, we rented Jet Skis in the Bahamas, took a Catamaran Snorkling Tour in St. Thomas, and took a Zip Line tour in St. Marteen. There were a lot less expensive excursions, but we were able to all of this for about $400. On the boat, our bill at the end of the week was about $700. Now, this bill included 2 watches, some perfume, and some t-shirts. We drank a lot less than some, but had a few every night. Once again, we could have gotten off a lot cheaper and still had a good time.
I just got back from sandals in st. lucia and it was a big disappointment. I mean, I got the best of the best room, service.view and everything, but it def. was not worth the price. Oh so pricey it was. I would def. not recommend sandals resorts. I have heard other neg. comments after I got back as well. I have been on several cruises and by far I have the most fun on them. They end up wayyyy cheaper too. Even for the 8 day cruises.
We did 5 days Couples Negril Jamaica in May of this year. Had the ocean front suite bottom floor. You can go with $5 and come back with $5. Only thing you need money for is sovineirs. Great people and food! Drinks are excellent too! My package cost with air on “allinclusiveoutlet.com” was $3400. Only downfall was the 1 1/2 ride from the airport. Real relaxing vacation.
i never really liked cruises since you dont get to experience the islands for long. however, this is from a fishing standpoint and not wife travels. we rented a houseboat in the keys for our honeymoon and it was killer, best of both worlds.
Kut, I think it depends on what you like to do. The wife and I like to relax and drink lots. We have been to all inclusive in Cancun for 4 years and we love it. This year for a change we went on a cruise from Charleston to Bahamas. 5 days. We really liked it. But the Islands are not much to talk about. The boat is fun and yes it gets pricey, but in the end it was about the same as Cancun. It think we spent 800 on beer. We like to drink. If you do go on a cruise. If you drink beer, take a bottle opener and a soft cooler. We would get 2 buckets at a time and put them in the cooler, they are colder and you do not have to wait to get a new one. Also (and this is the same at both) tip the wait staff a little and they will be way more attentive.
Have fun.

If you can’t stand behind our soldiers, try standing in front of them.
I’ve done both, and all-inclusive on the island is definitely teh way to go if you ask me. You get much more for your money, and there are some really good deals out there.

Trust me, while your pinned down taking enemy fire and you call in for air support and you hear a jets afterburner crackin the air overhead would be the most liberating sound you could ever ask for. I haven’t experienced that first hand in actual combat, but I have trained in a similar scenario where it still makes the hair stand up on your body.
