Don’t usually post about my spots, but I have partiality towards those that carry the long rods (eventhough I am guilty of switching between spinning rod and fly rod) and wold like to share some of my good fortune. I’ve been seeing a lot of fish on the north end of Folly in the oyster flats (mainly on the left) on the way to Morris Island. They seem to pool in the deeper flats at low tide (to stay away from flipper in the channel) and move methodically up towards the grass edge as the tide rises (hopping from pool to pool). They hang around the grass edge killing the bait until the pools start to develop behind the grass edge and then they move into those, mainly chasing the shrimp and minnows. I have been able to target them at low tide in the pools (although they were pretty honed in on the live bait) and in the high tide grass pools (much more easy to attract their attention). I did get them once at the grass edge on the falling tide (seemed to hang there a little longer on the falling rather than rising tide). No special particulars about the spots, just a lot of oysters at low tide and grass at high tide. Moving slowly to notice the cruising fish seems to help (may only see the grass bending back and forth) rather than moving quickly only looking for tails. The most “suprised” fish seemed to be those that were in the newly formed high tide pools that thought they were getting an easy meal. Blind casting has been pretty unproductive for me. Clousers or sliders on the fly, grubs on the reel (just that plain ole standard stuff). I occasionally use some bait, but only when I ain’t gettin no bites. Hope this helps someone - I know starting off trying to find spots can be frustrating (but never enough to pick up golf again - what a miserable frustrating sport).
