Rolled out 4am friday morning with realfish01 and capt jimmy. picked up mark jackson in jacksonville and my good friend pepe in tallahassee. my son john met us coming out of texas in slidell where we picked up a bag of mudbugs, arriving in venice after 16 hrs. the cleaning tables were loaded with yellowfins as the fleet pulled in and we were jacked. cooked up some venison lasagna and garlic bread and crown royal for desert. rolled out at 6am on a 36 yellowfin with capt scott. eased through the fog 20 miles down the mississippi and hit the gulf to blue skies, 65 and 1-2 foot seas. awesome… capt gave us a choice, stay close for average fish or run 80 miles for the big boys. we said mash the motor. hit an oil rig in 5200 feet and picked up some tinker mackrel on sebikis for bait. picked up a few yft here and there on the outriggers slow trolling, most fish were marked in 300+ water. added weights to our live bait rigs and ended up with 4 yft’s by noon,30-60 lbs. capt made the decision to go to another rig, rolled in to feeding fish. finished up a limit and headed for the hill. outfished every boat in the marina with a limit of yft’s even though capt remmer coverington had eight fish, one at 152# and 102#lbs. cooked up some black seas bass in lime butter gravy with garlic mashed potatoes and a tossed salad, crown for dessert. rolled out the next morning at 6:30, same deal, foggy for 20 miles down the mississippi and hit the gulf, bluse skies, flat calm, 70. decided to hit some more shallow rigs and were picking up hard tails for bait on sibikies when the yellowfins started schooling a 1/4mile west of us. grabbed the dozen baits that we had and eased over to them. deployed two blue runners on outriggers and BAM… BAM. two fish on. pepe on the front of the boat, hooked another one BAM on a popper on a spinning rod. a few minutes later blood and bludging with a clubing of heads, three in the boat. after high fiving and being impressed with each other we deployed the baits again, BAM, BAM, BAM. this went on for 2 h

Bug Catcher stayed in my buddies place.
It is a house within 100 feet or so of the Marina and MGFC house boat. Not many frills but sleeps up to 10. Kitchen with stove microwave etc. TV, couch, deck and you can tie your boat up to the house boat itself. $300 a night. He has a weekly rate to but I don’t remember exactly what it is.
