Cube Steak Recipe

Can anyone share some creative recipes on cube steak. We have tons of it in the freezer and i’m getting tire of mustard fried venison and plain cube steak in gravy. Thanks in advance. H

This is one of our favorites:

Venison Cubed Steak

2-3 pounds Venison Cubed Steaks
2 cups flour, seasoned with salt, pepper and garlic powder
2 eggs
cup milk
cup olive oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 onion, chopped
4 cups chicken broth
1 hot pepper, halved and seeded
1 can stewed tomatoes

Dip cubed steaks in egg and milk mixture and dredge in seasoned flour. Fry steaks in large cast iron skillet on high heat on both sides in oil and set aside. Saute onion and garlic and add 1 cup of chicken broth. Reduce by half. Return steaks to skillet and cover with 3 cups of chicken broth, stewed tomatoes and hot pepper. Cook for about half an hour and serve over rice.

Here are three that I have tried and they passed the “Donnie taste test”. ;).

Cube steak with horseradish sauce
"…l…

Ingredients

Mayonnaise - 1/2 cup
(also try or substitute the different varieties of Kraft…they have olive oil, steakhouse,Greek, buffalo wing and burger…and you can find aloof them at the DOLLAR TREE…FOR A DOLLAR ;). Save 1.50 on each one over grocery store price. They have tons of spices, and fixins now! )

Heavy cream or evaporated milk - 1/8 cup

Horseradish - 2 tablespoons

Salt- 1/2 teaspoon

Fresh ground black Pepper - 1/2 teaspoon

Cube steaks - 4

Toasted buns - 4
Great on onion or cheese kaiser rolls too

  1. Preheat the grill

MAKING
2. In a small bowl, blend mayonnaise with cream until smooth.
3. Add the horse-radish, a teaspoon salt and a dash of pepper.
4. Cook cube steaks very quickly over hot coals or heat of grill or pan and season with remaining salt and pepper.

Serve on. BUns with sauce …some grilled onions…or cheese or toppings of choice…also good plated with sauce and some veggies such as some oven roasted potatoes/onions seasoned with dry ranch or Italian dressing sprinkled on prior to cooking in oven on lightly greased cookie sheet.

Cube Steaks With peppercorns, Black Pepper And Cream Recipe

6 cube steaks (about 6 ounces each)

2 -3 tablespoons peppercorns, crushed

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

3/4 cup beef broth

3 tablespoons half-and-half

3 tablespoons butter or margarine

  1. Dry the steaks with paper towels. Press the crushed peppercorns evenly onto both sides of the steaks. Heat the oil in a heavy 12-inch skillet over moderately high heat for about 1 minute. Add the steaks and cook for 1 minute on each side for medium; cook an additional minute per side for well done. Remove the steaks to a platter and set in a keep-warm (250F) oven.

Teriyaki glazed grilled cube steak.

3 tbsp each of butter, Brown sugar, and teriyaki sauce.
Heat all three together in a small saucepan until the sugar is melted. Lay out cube steak in a shallow pan and pour glaze mixture over it and let marinate in the refrigerator a few hours or overnight. After marinating, roll up cube steak and wrap in bacon. Put a toothpick through them to hold. Pour any excess marinade over everything just before grilling. Grill until cooked and enjoy!!

This is also great on dove breasts!

H20gul that was officially off the chain. This will definitely be a repeat. Easy and all ingredients were things we keep around. Thanks for sharing. One thing i did which you may have implied was to saute the veggies in the same pan the cube steakk was fried in. We did however remove all but enough of the EVOO to saute the veggies. Also i had my own tomatoes which i canned…that put it over the top in my opinion. Penny, thanks for yours too we will try them also.

Was served with asparagus caserole (one can of asparagus drained, one half can cream of mushroom smeared over asparagus, cover with sharp cheddar and bake at 350 till bubbley and crispy on top. This fits in a small pyrex like maybe 6"*6" (which is perfect for two and the other half of mushroom soup can be saved til the following week). Can obviously be doubled by using two cans asparagus and one can of cream of mushroom in a 9"*9" pyrex.

Glad you enjoyed the recipe - I copied it exactly from how I found it, and I NEVER use a cup of EVOO even when initially cooking the venison. That’s just too much oil in my opinion.

Thanks for the asparagus idea as well. That sounds yummy, and Jack and I both love asparagus - fresh and canned. A quick and easy salad idea is to chill a can of asparagus, lay the spears atop shredded iceberg lettuce and drizzle with balsamic vinegar.

Yeah, i thought a cup was a bit excessive too if you were going to leave it in the pan. I did use a cup and was pleased with how well it fried the steaks. Pretty much like deep frying them but you wind up with all the bits and goodies in the pan. I prob left 3 tablespoons plus the browned bits in the pan to saute the veggies.

Mom makes the asparagus thing…adds a can of early sweet peas and a little crumbled ritz as well.

Trying this for dinner tonight - left it in the refrigerator soaking in the marinade this morning.

The teriyaki glazed grilled venison cubed steak was a huge hit! Thanks, Tigerfin! The sweetness of the marinade with the saltiness of the bacon made for a perfect combination. I served the cubed steak with Pescazorro’s asparagus casserole, au gratin potatoes and a nice Pinot Noir.
