I was asked by a customer of mine to build a rod holder that attaches to his toolbox. We operate a fabrication and machine shop in Columbia and primarily work with industrial customers. After seeing the final product I thought I would post some pictures to see if anyone else might have an interest in something similar.
This particular one is headed to Charleston this weekend, so I hope you guys see it around.
Thank you. B/c we built this from a sketch the customer provided, I don’t necessarily know what one would look like with more holders. I do know we can design and build what ever configuration you might want.
If you could handle a smaller gap between holders we could put as many on that one post as would fit. Would that be an option?
I just delivered this one to its owner and he was really happy with the outcome. He is giving it to his son as a graduation present, so this should be a good weekend for the young man. I took a couple more pictures before I let it get away.
These are all Taco parts, so they are of high quality. These particular holders are the weld-on type, but they are the higher end variety with the taper. If you go to their website and see something that you like better, I have an account with them. www.tacomarine.com
I can sell one just like this for $625. Depending on purchased part lead time, I would estimate a reasonable turn around time to be 2 weeks.
Just an aside, do you live in Ridgeville? I see your picture of Duke’s there on the side.

You build a beautiful product, but that’s a little rich for my blood. I’ll just stick with the one I made for now and get back to you when I hit the lottery. Or rob a bank.
And no, I don’t live in Ridgeville but have been eating Duke’s (the ONE AND ONLY, BTW) for about 25 years. Best barbecue AND fried chicken around…

Too rich for my blood as well, I’ll have to stick with mine made out of steel and PVC. Not disrespecting your work by any means, that is just more than my rods/reels cost.

My wife is from Ridgeville, so she grew up in that bbq house, and I have been enjoying it for the past 10 years or so. Great food for sure.
I hate to hear ya’ll don’t like the price, b/c I tried to make it as fair as possible. Just from an outsiders perspective I’m curious to know what you were expecting the price to be.
I did a search for MSRP on the rod holder part number, which I obviously can buy cheaper but it showed $97.66 each. According to that you can hardly buy the components for my price, much less pay someone to put it together for you. Just a thought. Maybe I should try selling blood enrichment.

Quality cost I agree with Mr. Mosser, I know how much those Taco tulip rod holders cost wholesale and they aren’t much under $100 each, that’s raw and unwelded. Not a lot of profit margin at that price. It’s certainly a fair price for a quality product. Whether you want a product of that quality just to haul rods in your truck is another matter
