Custom Trolling Lure

Does anyone here make custom offshore style trolling lures? On the hunt for something a little different.

I make large lead trolling lures, bucktail jigs, and parachute jigs, like folks typically use for Stripers or Cobia. What are you looking for?

I’ve done a few offshore trolling lures; it was pretty fun and they worked well. Not sure they were any better from a fishing perspective, but they were fun to make and customize. Are you trying to buy some or do you want advice on making them?

Are you referring to pouring your own resin head lures and skirting them?

Looking for a unique hand made gift for a few Christmas presents.

Yes to resin poured heads and possibly some customization at that point. There is a company online selling something similar that gave me the idea, but I like local handmade better that’s more than just a marketing gimmick.

I say nothing fancy, however, I watched a few videos…and now i’m here asking if anyone does this because I can’t.

I can 3d model something and hoping I could possibly talk JumpinCobia into printing a mold. Waiting on his response as well.

I haven’t ever poured any resin heads myself. I think it would be a cool hobby to get into but can’t justify the time. There was a guy on James island who made lures maybe a decade back but I don’t know anyone else in Charleston who does.

Hopefully someone here will have a contact in the Charleston area. You should give the guys at Haddrell’s a call. Chances are they’ll know if anyone in Charleston is making lures that are worth e ****

I was wondering if a 3d printer would work to establish a head shape-

I agree it would be a cool hobby. I knew an older gentleman who made custom pocket knives. I always planned on getting one until he passed away. Opportunity missed. I always wanted a hand sewn cotton cast net, that older gentlemen I knew also passed away. Heck Im realizing right now I never got my great grandfathers liver puddin’ recipe before he passed away. I like hand made, I like the fact it may take a while. I like the concept that someone made something specifically for a certain person. I know it flies in the face of modern commercialism and mass production but that’s kind of the point, a gift with meaning.

Haddrells is a good idea. I honestly thought there would be at least one guy around the forum who is into this sort of thing. Thanks for everyones help I will try and update if I get anywhere with this project.

If you don’t find someone locally, check with Joey Kilmer who owns Lure’M In fishing.
