Well I am not a big fan of cut bait fishing but I was forced into that method this am. I have a Vest 40gal Super Bait tank and never ever loose any bait. Well I stopped by this am and picked up 3 doz BB’s at my regular bait stop and while I did not add the bait saver(bottle was empty) I did add my rock salt and them temp was fine. Well I got to my predetermined spot well before daylight and dropped anchor(which I ended up loosing to the trees). Well when I opened up my tank to bait my first hook I was shocked to see all 3 doz laying in a pile on the bottom of the tank:frowning_face:. Nothing to do at this point other than to fish cut bait( I call it catfishing).
I have never had this problem before and could not figure out what happened. On the way home I called my fishing partner and while we were discussing it I dawned on me that I may have not replaced the fiber in the filter system when I cleaned my tank. I always do this so it is ready to go the next time. When I got home my thought was correct.
This is the only explination I can come up with, other than I should have been in Church instead of fishing this am(3 doz dead BB’s and a lost anchor)
By the way I did end up with 3 nice catfish for supper though:sunglasses:
