Can you post a picture of it?

Larry told me this. If it has foam in it, and you remove the seat and the foam you gotta add more foam in abouther place. Because that foam is the minimum the USCG requires builders to have to.make boats float if swamped. So if you remove that seat you need to add the sane cubic feet of foam you took out into the boat another place.

Common sense would say add replacement flotation, but the USCG only requires manufacturers to meet upright, level flotation regs, owners can remove it all if they so desire. I’d be more concerned with the strength of the hull without a major lateral stiffener … ![]()

-it does have foam in it and the bench does not go all the way to the floor.
Thanks for all the input ![]()
That’s probably an optional layout for that model and they may have left out vertical supports to fit the bench and if removed you may want to replace them. My Duracraft has the same layout with that bench having a lid and storage under. There’s never enough dry storage…
From a structural view, both benches appear to be integral to the structure of the hull. Remove either and you have a ‘less constrained’ structure. How much less constrained? Who knows. If it were my boat, I would NOT remove either bench unless I had a really good handle on what that would do to the rest of the hull - probably nothing good.
I’m floating around in a 1964 Crestliner with 2 leaking rivets (not bad for her age). Take care of your hull and she’ll last a long time.

they make that same boat without the middle bench
the structural braces should still be there
just look and see if it looks like there is a “skip” in the line of floor and side braces, if not, you can remove without issue.
